The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty;
he will save you, he will rejoice over thee with joy;
he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17
Did you know that God is excited about you? You need to take some time, right now, and think about that! Some people only ever think about God’s wrath, they believe that God is always mad at them. They have been raised to think that God is only concerned about sin, and because there is so much sin in the world, He’s mad at everybody; No!
God is not that way. Chris Tomlin in his great song, Good, Good Father writes,
“I’ve heard a thousand stories of what they think you’re like,
but I’ve heard the tender whisper of love in the dead of the night,
and you tell me that you’re pleased
and that I’m never alone.
You’re a good, good Father
it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am.
God was greatly concerned by our sin that is why He sent Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, the problem of sin was dealt with forever. Therefore, for those who believe in Christ, sin is no longer a problem between them and God. The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ brought an end to sin and ushered you into the life of righteousness:
“For he hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (Jesus).”
2 Corinthians 5:21
So you see, God is not mad at you; He settled the issue of sin in our lives in and through Jesus and said,
“…..sin shall not have dominion over you……”
Romans 6:14
What you need to do is trust His righteousness, not your own works or effort, trust what Jesus came to do! You’re the fruit, the result of Christ’s redemptive work. Accept and receive His righteousness into your spirit and live continually in His Glory and Grace, knowing that He’s not mad at you, but excited about you!
2 Corinthians 5:19 puts it like this,
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself,
not imputing their trespasses unto them;
and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
It’s time for you to get excited about God because He is excited about you! Hear His song being sung over you today as you ponder His beauty, majesty and splendour, amen?
